Description
Bridon Dyform® RL is a rotation-resistant wire rope construction engineered for offshore oil & gas lifting and mooring applications, where preventing load rotation and spin is a critical safety and operational requirement.
What rotation-resistant means: A standard wire rope, under load, has a natural tendency to rotate or spin as the strands try to unlay under tension — a real problem when lifting or mooring a load where rotation is dangerous or operationally unacceptable. Rotation-resistant constructions use multiple layers of strands laid in opposing directions, so the torque from each layer counteracts the others, greatly reducing rope and load rotation under load.
Typical applications: Offshore crane lifting, subsea lifting operations, and mooring applications where load rotation must be minimised for safety and operational control.
Why this matters offshore: Offshore lifting often involves single-part lines lifting loads at height above deck or water, where an uncontrolled spinning load presents a genuine safety hazard to personnel and equipment. Rotation-resistant rope construction directly addresses this risk at the rope level, rather than relying solely on rigging techniques to manage it.
Manufacturing and quality: Manufactured by Bridon-Bekaert as part of the Dyform® oil & gas range, supplied with full mill certification and test documentation for offshore industry traceability requirements.
