Description

Bridon® Swaged Tubing Line is used in tubing line operations on drilling and workover rigs, featuring a smooth swaged (compressed) outer surface designed to reduce wear on sheaves, drums, and guide equipment compared to a standard round-strand rope surface.

What swaging does: Swaging compresses the outer strands of the rope after laying, smoothing the surface profile and increasing the metallic cross-section for a given diameter. This reduces surface wear on the rope itself and on the sheaves and drums it runs over, while also improving spooling behaviour on the winch drum during repeated tubing operations.

Typical applications: Drilling rig and workover rig tubing operations, where the rope undergoes frequent spooling cycles under load as tubing strings are run in and out of the well.

Why this matters for tubing operations: Tubing lines see some of the most repetitive spooling duty of any oilfield rope application. A smoother, swaged surface reduces the wear that comes from constant reeling, helping extend service life and maintain more predictable spooling performance over the rope’s working life.

Manufacturing and quality: Manufactured by Bridon-Bekaert with full mill certification and test documentation supplied with every reel.
