Description
The Bridon Tiger® 18M balance rope is engineered for underground mining shaft balance rope applications, using a two-layer construction over a Wire Strand Core (WSC) to deliver the specific performance characteristics balance ropes require.
What a balance rope does: In deep shaft mining, a balance (or tail) rope hangs beneath the mine cage or skip to help balance the weight of the main winding rope as it pays in and out — without a balance rope, the changing weight of the main rope over a deep shaft would create load imbalances that affect winder performance and safety.
Rotation resistance: The two-layer construction is rotation-resistant, meaning the opposing lay of the layers helps counteract rope rotation under load — important for a rope hanging freely beneath a moving conveyance in a shaft.
PI (plastic impregnated) option: This rope can be supplied plastic-impregnated (PI), where polymer is worked into the rope’s internal structure during manufacture to improve corrosion resistance — a valuable option in shaft environments with high humidity or water ingress.
Typical applications: Underground mine shaft balance/tail rope duty on deep shaft winding installations.
