Description

The Bridon® 50DB Series Wire Rope is a compacted, rotation-resistant crane rope engineered specifically for applications where limited lifting height and rope rotation control are critical design factors. Rotation-resistant construction means this rope resists spinning under load — an essential characteristic for single-part crane hoisting where an uncontrolled rotating load can create serious safety hazards for crews working below or nearby.

Construction: Multi-layer rotation-resistant design, where outer and inner strand layers are laid in opposing directions so that the torque generated by each layer counteracts the other, dramatically reducing the rope’s tendency to rotate or spin a suspended load compared to standard 6-strand construction.

Key characteristics: Good wear resistance from its compacted outer strand construction, high category breaking strength relative to diameter, and rotation-resistant performance that makes the Bridon 50DB Series Wire Rope particularly well suited to applications with limited headroom where a rope’s natural tendency to rotate under load cannot be safely accommodated.

Common applications: Mobile and tower crane hoist lines, particularly where single-part (non-multi-fall) reeving is used and load rotation must be minimised, applications with restricted lifting height where rope construction options are limited, and general crane hoisting duty where rotation control is a safety priority.

Why rotation resistance matters: In single-part lifting arrangements, a standard wire rope under load will naturally try to unwind, causing the suspended load to spin — this is both a safety hazard and an operational nuisance. The Bridon 50DB Series Wire Rope’s opposing-lay multi-layer construction is specifically engineered to counteract this effect, keeping loads stable and controllable during the lift.

Standard: Manufactured to EN 12385 and ISO 2408, with full mill certification and test documentation supplied, consistent with Bridon-Bekaert’s manufacturing standards across their crane rope range.

Finish: Available bright or galvanized according to your operating environment and crane manufacturer’s specification.

Sizes and supply: Supplied on reels or cut to length to match your specific crane’s rope specification, with full certification and traceability from Bridon-Bekaert’s manufacturing facility through to delivery.

Important note on rotation-resistant rope handling: Rotation-resistant wire rope requires careful handling during installation and re-reeving, as the internal strand layers can be sensitive to improper unspooling or kinking — always follow the rope and crane manufacturer’s installation procedures.

Brand: Manufactured by Bridon-Bekaert, a globally recognised leader in wire rope manufacturing for the crane, construction, and heavy lifting industries.
