Description
The Green Pin® RFID Tag is an electronic identification tag designed to be permanently fitted to lifting slings and rigging hardware, enabling fast, accurate digital tracking of individual items throughout their working life. As lifting equipment inspection and traceability requirements have become more rigorous across the industry, RFID tagging has become a practical way to manage large inventories of slings and hardware reliably.
Why RFID tagging matters: Every sling and piece of rigging hardware in professional use should be individually traceable — to its certification, inspection history, and safe working load — throughout its service life. Manual record-keeping (paper tags, stamped codes) works, but is slow to update and easy to lose or damage in harsh working environments. An RFID tag can be scanned in seconds with a handheld reader, instantly pulling up that specific item’s full history from a digital asset management system.
How it works: The tag contains a small embedded chip and antenna that responds to a compatible RFID reader without needing direct line of sight or physical contact — unlike a barcode, which needs to be visually scanned, an RFID tag can often be read even when covered in grease, dirt, or partially obscured, which is common in real working conditions.
